All tickets, including King's Pot Feast, are priced the same for both adults and children. Children under the age of three can enter for free. No refunds or exchanges for admission tickets and King's Pot Feast tickets.

Lunar New Year Fair

A Lunar New Year Fair is a lively and colorful celebration that unfolds in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year in various Cantonese-speaking communities, particularly in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia. Bursting with festive energy, the fair features an extensive array of flower and plant stalls, offering symbols of growth and good fortune for the upcoming year. Traditional Lunar New Year decorations, such as lanterns and banners, adorn the market, creating a joyful and auspicious atmosphere.

Visitors to the fair can indulge in the vibrant red decor, symbolizing luck and happiness in Hkers culture, while exploring a variety of traditional foods and snacks. Vendors showcase an array of candies, dried fruits, nuts, and other celebratory treats. Cultural performances, entertain the crowds and enhance the festive ambiance.

The festival goes beyond a marketplace, offering an immersive experience with traditional crafts, goods related to the Chinese zodiac animal of the year, and engaging games and activities for families and children. As a cherished tradition, the Lunar New Year Fair provides a communal space for people to come together, celebrate the arrival of the new year, and partake in cultural festivities that carry deep cultural significance.

King's Pot

Where ?

“The King's Pot," originating from the walled villages of the New Territories in Hong Kong, dates back to the end of the Southern Song Dynasty. During that time, Emperor Zhao Bing sought refuge in these villages, and the locals served him by layering limited food items in a wooden basin, creating the dish to honor the emperor.

What is it ?

During the Lunar New Year in Hong Kong, people gather with family and friends to enjoy 'The King's Pot,' symbolizing reunion and prosperity. Each ingredient holds a different meaning, such as radish for good fortune and bamboo shoots for contentment. This dish has become an essential part of the Hong Kong New Year, representing a shared cultural tradition.

Why ?

By promoting this tradition, we aim to create a space for different communities in Manchester and visitors to come together, share a meal, and engage in conversations, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation of Hong Kong's culture. Through the sharing of our cherished traditional food, we hope to create a unique experience for people from different backgrounds to come together, share, eat, and enjoy the moment together.
